This year's Annual Ukrainian Famine Lecture, Not by Starvation Alone: Stalinist Cultural Genocide in Ukraine, will be delivered online on November 26 by Serhy Yekelchyk, Professor of History and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria.
Professor Yekelchyk is the author of seven books on Ukrainian history and Russo-Ukrainian relations, including the award-winning Stalin’s Citizens: Everyday Politics in the Wake of Total War. He is the current president of the Canadian Association for Ukrainian Studies.
The Toronto Annual Ukrainian Famine Lecture was initiated in 1998. This year's lecture is organized by the Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (CIUS, University of Alberta); the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (University of Toronto); the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies; the Ukrainian Canadian Congress-Toronto branch; the Petro Jacyk Program for the Study of Ukraine (University of Toronto); and St. Vladimir Institute (Toronto).
